Commonwealth Classic is an affiliated tournament that is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) via the local state association, the metropolitan D.C.-Virginia Soccer Association (MDCVSA). All tournament players must be registered in a league which is affiliated with USSF, or a foreign federation tecognized by USSF. See below for affiliation/eligibility catergories.
PLAYER INJURIES DURING A MATCH
TEAM CAPTAINS - Please read all of the information below.
One of the benefits of being an affiliated player is the secondary player medical insurance that is offered through the USASA. To receive the benefits of the secondary player medical insurance, you must properly complete an insurance claim for, sign it, get it sigend by your league representative, then submit the completed original, signed form to the MDCVSA Registrar. All medical insurance claims must be filed through the MDCVSA. Your team captian, coach, or league representative cannot approve an insurance claim, although those persons may be required to sign the claim or provide information in support of the claim. Any injured player should be sure to obtain a copy from the tournament Trainer (if available), signed by a Commonwealth Classic Tournament Committee Member as confirmation that the injury was sustained during the Commonwealth Classic. Include this with the claim submission to the MDCVSA Registrar. TEAM ELIGIBILITY CATEGORIES
Tournament teams must fit into one of the following Eligibility Categories. All teams must present current player passes at tournament registration/check-in.
Category A: In-State Affiliated Teams
Your team consists of affiliated player from MDCVSA member leagues and teams. You may register up to seven (7) guest players who were not formerly registered with MDCVSA or another US Soccer entity. Registration of guest players should be done directly through MDCVSA, via online registration. Click here to go to the Registration page for more details.
Category B: Out-of-State Affiliated Teams
Teams already affiliated with an existing USASA state association (or other US Soccer entity) are permitted to play in the tournament. Your state association must provide the Commonwealth Classic with an approved roster that includes the names and birth dates of your players (note: this correspondence must come directly from your state association). All players should be registered through your state association and included on the official roster. Click here to go to the Registration page for more details.
(International teams are also permitted, as long as you submit a Travel Permit and roster from your national soccer association.)
Category C: Out-of-State Unaffiliated Teams
Unaffiliated out-of-state teams should contact their adult state association to inquire about affiliation. Only affiliated teams will be accepted into the tournament.
SUBMISSION OF PRELIMINARY ROSTERS
In-State Teams
All MDCVSA teams must submit a Preliminary Roster to MDCVSA by June 8, 2013 via mail. An electronic roster form will be available to all managers at www.commonwealthclassic.org/roster_form. Or, once accepted, team managers may also request a roster form be sent to them via e-mail (classic@commonwealthsoccer.org).
In your cover e-mail, include your name, phone number, team name, home league, tournament division and Eligibility Category. Email the form to c.classic.rosters@gmail.com. Withing three business days of your submission, you will recieve a replay e-mail confirming those players who are registered with the MDCVSA. Any discrepancies (such as players missing on the MDCVSA database) will be noted.
If you have unexpected changes after June 8, you may submit ONE revised roster to c.classic.rosters@gmail.com which must be received by noon June 21, 2013.
Out-of-State Teams
Out-of-State teams should have their registrar submit an approved roster that included the names and birth dates of your players to the Commonwealth Classic no later than June 7, 2013 Your state registrar may submit to c.classic.rosters@gmail.com or mail to: Commonwealth Soccer League; ATTN: Commonwealth Classic; 2 Oak Ridge Ct.; Fredericksburg, VA 22407. Plan to bring a copy of your approved roster submitted by your state association to registration.
PLAYER PASSES AND RENEWAL STICKERS
All tournament players must have current USASA Player Passes. Passes will be checked against MDCVSA/State verified rosters at registration. Passes will also be inspected to ensure they are current. Season Dates marked on the passes should be from September 1, 2012 to August 31, 2013. Please check passes for these dates prior to tournament registration.
Captains must acquire Player Passes in advance from their home leagues. All affiliated MDCVSA leagues must provie Player Passes to their member teams and players upon request. If your league refuses to provide Player Passes, let the MDCVSA know immediately by sending an e-mail to c.classic.rosters@gmail.com -- this is a serious matter and uncooperative leagues are subject to fine and suspension. Leagues are not obligated to provide passes for guest players. Guest players not currently registered in an affiliated league should become affiliated directly through MDCVSA.
Obtaining Guest Player Passes:
You may register up to seven guest players who were not formerly registered with MDCVSA. A "guest player" is defined as a player who is not currently registered with MDCVSA. There are two types of guest player as follows:

At registration, teams should present their approved roster and player passes (note: MDCVSA teams should print the approved roster that is sent back from the MDCVSA registrar). Passes will be checked against MDCVSA/State verified rosters (Note: MDCVSA teams needing to make roster changes should bring a revised roster which will be verified by MDCVSA personnel. Only 4 roster changes are permitted at registration).
All Player Passes must have the current Seasonal Year.
Teams will little or no changes will be sent through an expedited process, so it is in your best interest to have your roster up to date prior to registration.
OTHER IMPORTANT ITEMS TO NOTE
Deadline for league to update MDCVSA database:
The MDCVSA database will be updated for the last time prior to Commonwealth Classic on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. The Registrar of your league must submit their team membership information on or before this date.
